Final Round, Tie-breaking & Proof of Birth-date for Top 3

2022-08-13 By NAYCC

Dear participants of the 2022 North American Youth Chess Championship,

The pairings for the 9th and final round are now up!  You can see them at: 2022 NAYCC Round 9

Just a few more reminders:  If you are or think you might be in the top 3 you will need to provide us with a proof of date of birth.  You can do so by sending it to our website or showing it in person on site.

The following is a procedure in case of a tie (no playoff matches will be held):

1) Head to head scores: Used only in the event that all players in a group played each other.
2) Median Bucholz 2 (Modified median): Add up total points of opponents but not the two lowest point scorers or 2 highest point scorers.
3) Sonneborn-Berger: Add up total points of opponents you beat and half the points of opponents you drew against.
4) Total wins
5) Youngest player.
6) Coin Flip

Lastly, there is still time to register for the Blitz championship.  Registration will close at 1 pm tomorrow.  You can register at: NAYCC Blitz Championship
